DURHAM, N.C., USA (November 12, 2020) -- Just as the novel coronavirus began to spread globally, Research Square Company and its editing and manuscript preparation services division, AJE (American Journal Experts), embarked on the first initiative to help non-English speaking researchers across the world prepare their COVID-19 research manuscripts for publication in English-language journals.
The program, which was started on January 31 to foster the spread of COVID-19 research, recently hit its 750 paper milestone. Since then, AJE staff have edited 757 COVID-19 papers, comprising 2,475,482 words. Of these papers, 127 of them were also translated into English.
“We quickly recognized that rapid communication of research on this virus, its pathology, and potential therapies could be a great benefit to society,” said April Troester, Vice President of Customer Service at Research Square Company and architect of the program. “Since one of the barriers to the rapid communication of research is English proficiency, we thought we could help coronavirus and COVID-19 researchers get their important findings out quicker through free and discounted author services.”
So far, the program has helped more than 3,000 researchers from non-English speaking countries increase their chances of publishing coronavirus-related research in peer-reviewed English-language journals. By far, English-language journals represent the largest readership and have the greatest impact in the scholarly world.
“I'm very proud of supporting these researchers helping to end this coronavirus pandemic,” said Troester. “It’s been amazing to see the number of authors taking advantage of the program, because it shows so many researchers are working to understand and treat this serious virus.”
