As Product Director of Professional Services, Laura Stemmle is responsible for the development, management, and growth of Research Square Company’s human-delivered services. This includes English-language editing and translation, scientific editing, figure preparation, journal recommendation, manuscript formatting, multimedia services, and its suite of custom grant services.
Stemmle has also produced various articles and presentations for the scholarly publishing industry, covering research communications, the peer review process, and editorial operations.
Previous to this, she served in several product management roles in the company’s AJE (American Journal Experts) and Research Square divisions, developing new products and services that focused on ways to help researchers build their international reputation and increase the impact of their work with funders, colleagues, and society. These include video production, editing, and enhanced peer-review services.
Stemmle earned her PhD in biochemistry from Duke University in 2005. She received her BS in entomology and biochemistry from the University of Maryland in College Park. She also holds several certificates on pricing strategy from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
